What started as a "Top Of The Pops" -Clone by the german Radio Bremen - TV show called "Beat-Club" for the "young generation" in 1965, with then "coolest" dance moves and hottest acts, became the only essential TV Show for generations from 60ies through the 70ies Rock towards the 80ies Punk - New Wave era.
You have to realize that from 1965 on very famous and awesome bands and artist made all the way to the shitty small city 92 km away from Hamburg called Bremen in northern Germany to perform either a live- or a playback set, and millions of young kids watching made the show "Beat Club" far from being replaceable on german TV, even through the hardest student revolting times after 1968.
Here you will see classic footage starting with german 1965 Beat/Surf bands that were hot for young german audience around the german club scene like The Yankees (Bremen),The Liverbirds (UK,Liverpool),John O´Hara and His Playboys (Scotland),The Rattles (Hamburg), then becoming more and more popular ,the TV-station ( could afford even hotter acts with international performers thru the psychedelic era of the mid 60s like
The Kinks, The Small Faces, The Flower Pot Men, The Who, Scott Mckenzie, Procol Harum, The Moody Blues, B.B.King, David Mcwilliams, Gene Pitney, The Move, Brian Auger,
some very cool performances by the psychedelic Bee Gees, The Nice, Status Quo, Canned Heat, The Casuals, The Troggs, Jimmy Cliff, The Walker Brothers, Sonny & Cher, Long John Baldry, The Herd, Dave Davies, Nirvana, The Amen Corner, Traffic, Manfred Mann, The Hollies, The Small Faces, The Equals, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, Dave Dee & Co, The Easybeats, The Spooky Tooth, Blue Cheer, Barry Ryan, The Honeybus, Simon Dupree & The Big Sound, Tiny Tim, Joe Cocker, The Marmalade, The Beach Boys, The Amen Corner, Steppenwolf, Humble Pie, Ten Years After, Chicago Transit Authority, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Ike & Tina Turner, MC5, The Rolling Stones,Eric Burdon,
Black Sabbath, everything visually pimped up by Radio Bremen with what later was to become classic visuals and VJing on european TV.
But unfortunately they never got The Beatles on their show...
Here you have it, over 3 hours of the best and hottest performances ever done on german black&white and color TV, an insight to what was hot in Germany through the 60s and 70s, for every 1PocodMusica-User this seems to be a must-have!
This stuff is not available on DVD, it has been taken directly from Radio Bremen Digital.
Enjoy!
